Surgery Post Op Visit

So I went to my post op visit with the surgeon yesterday.  Of course I had to wear layers so my weight on their scale was different than my naked weight at home.  At home, I DO weigh myself naked to get the most accurate weight.  Funny but true... Anyway according to them, I have only lost 13-15lbs... Well I had a sweater on, my shoes (that are heavy to begin with) and then a turtleneck and my dress pants that are heavier.  I don't know what I wrote that but I guess I felt that I had to explain.  Plus they weighed me right after lunch and your most accurate weight is in the morning.... Oh well...

So now I am cleared to exercise (yay) and I discussed with him my vomiting issues.  Of course he thinks that I should be on Phase 3 foods but my gag reflex and my body will not allow it.  So I back to liquids again until I feel ready to try more solid foods.  If this isn't resolved by the three month visit, then I have to have a swallow study because he said that it is quite possible that he stapled my stomach too tightly... anyway... I also will be starting my B12 and Calcium citrate tomorrow.  I have been taking my multivit three times a day because I misread the paperwork that was sent home with me.  I really should only be taking one, two times a day. LOL... Oh well!

I also talked to him about the spikes in my blood sugar.  He told me that if that continues, he will order a HgbA1C (glycosolated sugar level) to determine what is going on.  For the record, I never had an issue with diabetes until I was pregnant with gestational diabetes and now it is puzzling.  I am checking my blood sugars two times a day in order to see what is going on.  I track them on an Excel spreadsheet that I developed when I was pregnant with Chloe. So far I don't see a real pattern emerging but I have only been tracking them a week. So now is the waiting game...

I also have an incision site that has not healed properly so I am to watch that and report to him how it looks etc.  Dr. Kelly made me laugh when I told him that I was doing Zumba and it hurt.  He said, "Well what do you expect when you were basically stabbed in 6 places?"  He laughed... I guess I never had thought of it that way... Laparascopic surgery is essentially stabbing someone... Interesting thought.... That is why I like him.  He is a nice guy, has a sense of humor (not common in most surgeons) and is a genuinely caring doctor.

Lately, I have felt tired and run down, but I think that has to do with the amount of work I am doing (40+) and how late I teach two nights a week. That coupled with giving piano lessons, having a toddler, Bill on TDY, and my own schoolwork makes things hectic.  However, I am doing it... I just know that the only way this is possible is through all the prayers for me and my health.

I don't have any words of wisdom this post because well, I am tired but I am sure when I am back to myself, I will have something smart alecky to say... Have a great week!
