Having Fun... Ooops is that Allowed?

So the last few weeks I have decided that I am going to have fun again... I have never really though much about what people think of me... Thus my outspoken, fun loving nature, but when I was heavier, I never really wanted to go and do anything.  But now I find that I really want to enjoy life again... It is funny because people are learning more and more about me as I get back to the "old Ami" that has been known to swallow a goldfish a time or two.  So here are some little known facts about the "fun" me... And ye, having fun is MOST definitely allowed!!!

1.  I sing... Yes I do and I play piano... In FACT, I was a Music Ed major at good ol' JBU until I realized that I loved music more than I did analyzing it! I've been a classically trained pianist since the age of 4.  I play and write music (not that often anymore with a 3 year old).  I also give piano lessons but draw the line at voice.  I am a Mezzo Soprano and found that out thanks to my music professor, Mr. Paul B. Smith at JBU.

2. I love ALL kinds of music including punk rock and rap.  Jazz is another obsession of mine.  I also dated a PUBLISH composer, briefly in high school.  We remain pretty good friends to this day.  Look up Jason Stanton on www.jasonstanton.com... That's him... And yes Jas, I pimped you out!!! :)

3.  I write poetry... And I hate to admit that I usually write it when people tick me off.  Chances are if you made me mad in life, there is a poem about YOU!!!! That includes siblings, parents, ex boyfriends, and of course, ex husbands!

4.  I love to dance in the rain and swim.  Though they are not really connected, they do involve water.  I was a lifeguard from age 12 until 21... And we were forced one year to wear those hideous red Baywatch type suits.  On a short muscular girl, they look weird. So I basically joked about being different and wearing a blue suit.  Which I did and everyone thought it was strange...

5. My favorite thing to do with my daughter is to lie in bed and sing show tunes at the top of our lungs.  I always wanted to be Ethel Merman... Yeah that didn't turn out too well... But I bet you can name a show and I know a song for it.  So far my daughter's fav song is, "Moonshine Lullaby"- don't judge me!!! LOL!

6. I was quite the fashionista back in the day.  My sisters USED to come to me for fashion advice.  Of course that was the era of bright colors and BIG sweaters.  Now I am resigned to the fact that I am not as cool as I once was.  Especially when my Intro to Business class decides to critique my clothing choices and decides that yes I do have good taste, but I chose clothing in two sizes two large and therefore I have lost cool points.  In fact, I was told that I wear too many sweaters and sweater dresses and they do nothing for my figure (this was from a guy).  For gosh sake's,  this is the FROZEN North!  NOT Miami... I may have exotic ethnicity, but I was MADE for colder weather!!! And seriously?  Since when did I become my students' "Project Runway" or "What Not to Wear"?

7. I sing in the shower... Loudly and in my "poof"... I will spare you the visuals, but the sound is pretty funny! And my kid is so intrigued, now SHE wants to get in the shower with me and sing loudly!!! Yeah we have fun in this house!!!

8.  I get stuck on certain foods and textures.  While I was pregnant with the "child"- Chloe Elleanore- I was obsessed with chili dogs... Now NOT SO MUCH... I can't stand the smell of them.  I do however, have a weakness for Peanut M&Ms, the Chocolate oranges that appear on my desk at school (I hope no one is trying to poison me), and potatoes... Any kind... mashed, smashed, baked... you get the picture!  Yeah I like potatoes...

9.  I let my child write on the bathtub with those bathtub crayons.  In my former life, I would have freaked because I am entirely too much like my mother.  I also let her wear my makeup and perfume.  I do her toenails because she begs me to and I also like to use funky colors on my nails too.  Case in point, if I have a french manicure it is because I am attending a rather boring event or I was sick.  I generally can be seen with crazy colors and designs for fun!

10. I have 3 tattoos and my nose pierced.  All of my tats mean something and before people judge, just remember that my latter revelation probably shocked a few of you. Though I am outgoing, I am sentimental too...

11. I have a special place in my heart for cats but limit it to two because I do not want to be known as the crazy cat lady.  Piglet and Oreo (See they even have FOOD names) are getting up there and I don't think that I will replace them once they are gone.  They live downstairs because my child insists on carrying my almost 20lb cat around like a baby.  He lets her (amazingly) but she tends to scare him with her bigger than life voice (compliments of me).  I usually save him by opening the basement door so he can escape.  Much to her chagrin and then she demand that he return to her.  I can only imagine what her first boyfriend might go through... Sorry in advance, but she is MY child.

12. Snow is only good for one to two things... Putting down people's pants and shoveling people in where they cannot get out and/or adding an entire snow family to the back of someone's truck. I am pretty sure someone reading this knows what I am talking about as well as what me and a friend who will remain unnamed did to Jeremy Stiles' car in Mayfield parking lot.  Two people besides me have kept that a secret until now... Well more like five but who is counting?  Let's just say that flour, mac and cheese, and eggs don't mix in the sun on a car... Get my drift!

13. I have a big heart but if you mess with me, I will find you and hurt you.  Actually, I think of devious ways to punk you.  Seriously... Ask any guy I dated who did me wrong.  Of course, I could let them keep on thinking that karma got them as I stated, but in reality, I kind of sometimes helped karma... Hey, I am a natural leader and people like to follow me... and live on the edge... sometimes... in my own mind lol!

Anyway, I was bored today and I thought that I would liven things up with a fun post.  I hate it when people think that you are having too much fun or are too loud.  I am loud, thanks to having MANY siblings, but I am also sarcastic, have a sense of humor, and like to prank people.  This is all because of my father and my various friends that influenced me so that I could scandalize and influence others.  In short, as I mentioned the other day on Facebook, I have decided that I am a one of a kind, limited edition and if you don't like it, that is ok.  I am me and true to myself which includes having fun.  I am talking about the legal kind that makes you chuckle to yourself as you recount it.  I like knowing that my friends probably look back at all the crazy stuff I dragged them in to and remember it with a smile instead of wondering why we aren't dead yet.  Happy weekend.... Go out and have some good clean fun!!! :)
