Day 2: No Wonder I Feel Like Crap!!!

Day 2 started early with a walk... Then I went back to sleep until the CNA came in to do vitals. I was able to sleep until Bill left for work and got up again for a walk. I decide to walk faster this time and once again impressed the nurses because there were people who had the surgery up to two days before I did who weren't wanting to get up and walk. Walking meant two things to me: freedom and home.

After I ordered a boring breakfast of broth, jello, and cranberry juice, all of which I was too chicken to eat, my visitors came. One was my new supervisor Tamara, then Bill's cousin Tracy ( who had gastric bypass in 2005). Both we're a great encouragement to me! Then our pastor, Matt and his wife Angel came to encourage me and pray with me. During the visits my stomach started to hurt more but I thought that it was just from being more active. My best friend Julie came and by that time it was intolerable. Quick inspection found that my pump was off- for 3 hours which means I was getting no pain Meds. Julie stayed with me mid afternoon until early evening... I have to admit that I mostly slept during that time. I did feel better later that evening but I was bummed because then they took me off the pump and I could not get my pain pills down due to throat swelling... We tried mixing them with everything and then my blood pressure didn't want to stay down.

By the time I went to bed, I finally had my pain managed, blood pressure was down, PCA pump was gone and I was on IV Meds. Everything was pretty dependent on pain management and so I was rewarded with broth, cranberry juice, and cherry jello. I was excited since I was probably going home the next day... :)
